Tuck front lever

The first step toward the front lever. Body horizontal under the bar on straight arms, knees tucked to the chest. Builds straight-arm pulling strength and core tension.

Technique

  1. Overhand hang, arms straight the whole time, shoulder blades pulled down and back.
  2. Tuck the knees and raise the hips to shoulder height, back horizontal.
  3. Push the bar down with straight arms, look at the ceiling.

Common mistakes

  • Bending the elbows: that is no longer a front lever.
  • Hips below the shoulders: shorten the hold, go back to knee raises.
