Bench leg raise

Lying on a bench with the hips at its end you lower straight legs below the bench level and raise them to vertical. More range than on the floor.

Technique

  1. Hips at the edge, hands hold the sides of the bench by the hips.
  2. Lower straight legs below the bench level, lower back pressed down.
  3. Raise to vertical and tuck the pelvis slightly at the top.

Common mistakes

  • Lower back arching on the way down: shorten the range.
  • Swinging the legs.
